One of nature's gems

Wendell and Mae Dean took in the beauty of one of Black Hills National Forest's natural wonders, Jewel Cave National Monument, named for its sparkling calcite spar crystals. Ranger Kenneth Zortman crammed lots of information into the half-hour Discovery Tour presentation.

  2. Joseph, I have had other people tell me they knew Ken and that they enjoyed working with him. This particular person is just about to retire from the park service at Devils Tower, where we worked as volunteers last summer. Pat had lots to do with the exhibits in the Jewel Cave Visitors Center. You can see the full group of photos from that park visit on Webshots and probably also Flickr.
